20 Day Tour of China and Tibet

You will board an overnight flight from the US to Shanghai, China.
Upon arriving at Shanghai in the evening, a tour guide will help you transfer to the hotel for some rest.
There will be a city tour of Shanghai today. You will visit sites such as the Yu Garden, built for the elderly parents of a wealthy man and the Nanjing Road. Enjoy a leisurly stroll along the Huangpu River at the Bund. In the evening, you will attend an exciting and entertaining Chinese Acrobatics Show.
In the morning, take one last opportunity to stroll along the exotic Bund. Note the various buildings along the river as you will surely find signs of past international influences. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to the airport for a flight bound for the capital of China, Beijing.
Beijing is the capital of China. It is also home to many historical sites as well as to many past emperors. Today, you will visit the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace. You will also visit the world’s largest square, the Tiananmen Square. A special Pecking Duck Banquet Dinner is prepared for dinner in the evening.
Perhaps the most exciting highlight of Beijing is the Great Wall of China. Spanning thousands of miles across Northern China, the Great Wall was originally built as a defense against marauders from the north. You will spend the morning touring this manmade wonder of the world, then proceeding to the Ming Tomb Museum. Upon returning to the city in the evening, you will be treated to the Emperor’s Banquet and a Chinese Opera.
The final stop in Beijing is the somber and grandiose Temple of Heaven. After lunch, you will board a flight bound for Chengdu, the capital of Szechuan Province. Upon arrival, you will proceed by bus to Chengdu’s City Zoo. This is the home to more pandas than any other zoo in the world. After your visit to the zoo, a tour guide will take you to visit the temple of Marquis Wu.
In the morning, you will board a flight to Lhasa, the capital of the Tibetan Autonomous Region. You will have most of the day as free time to rest up for the next couple day’s tour of the city.
Today, there will be a tour of the Potala Palace, the Johkang Lamasery and the Norbu Lingka. Also, take a walk along Barkhor Street and get a taste of the local culture as we bargain with the local Tibetan vendors for various handicrafts that are rarely seen elsewhere in the world.
Today’s destination will be away from the city center. It is known as the Deprung Lamasery and Sera Temple. If time permits, you can call upon a local Tibetan family and sit down for a cup of jak butter tea and enjoy the hospitality of our host.
There will be a full day excursion to Yamdrok Yumtso Lake today. This lake is one of the three Holy Lakes and is considered as one of the most beautiful lakes in Tibet.
You will depart from Lhasa in the morning and take a flight back to Chengdu. Upon arrival, a tour guide will take you to Dujiang Dam, an ancient water conservancy project. Other attractions you will be visiting today include the Wangjianglou Park and the Institute of Shu Embroidery. The Wangjianglou Park is a pavilion for viewing the Jinjiang River and the Institute of Shu Embroidery is one of the four famous embroidery schools in China. In the evening, enjoy a local specialty cuisine for dinner.
Today, there will be a morning tour to Du Fu’s Thatched Cottage before departing by air for Xian. Upon arrival in Xian, you will take a brief tour of this ancient capital of China. In the evening, a special Imperial Dumpling Banquet Dinner is provided.
Qin Shi Huang’s amazing legions of Terra-Cotta Warriors provide the main highlight for today’s tour. As yet another excavation site is now open to the public, we are able to see more of the Terra-Cotta Warriors that were made to protect the emperor after death. After lunch, you will continue on to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the ancient City Wall. In the evening, entertainment will be provided by the Tang Dynasty Stage Show.
After breakfast, you will board a flight to Guilin. Guilin is famous for its serene landscape, limestone formations, mist-covered hills and bamboo groves. It is located on the Li River, surrounded by exotic geographic formations. Be sure to bring your camera because you won’t want to miss capturing the beautiful Reed Flute Cave and the Elephant Trunk Hill in the afternoon.
Take a cruise down the Li River today. Enjoy the picturesque scenery of southern China. Lunch will be served on the ship. In the evening, you can enjoy a performance of the Minority Folk Dance.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. You will transfer to the airport to board a flight to Guangzhou, also known as the Flower City. After having lunch at a local Cantonese Cuisine restaurant, you will get a tour of the Chen Family Temple and the Yue Xiu Park. Later that day, you will take the express train to Hong Kong, known as the “Shopping Paradise.”
Better known as the “Pearl of the Orient,” Hong Kong is a vibrant, bustling international island. You will receive a half-day tour of the Hong Kong Island. Enjoy a cable car ride up to Victoria Peak where you will get a panoramic view of the island and its harbor. You will have the rest of the afternoon for your leisure activities.
You will have the whole day as leisure time. Hong Kong is known as the “Shopping Paradise” for a reason. Take an opportunity to do some last minute shopping before you leave tomorrow.
After breakfast in the morning, a tour guide will help you transfer to the airport for your overnight flight from Hong Kong to the US.
